From the "Celebrate" cookbook by the Junior League of Sacramento, these cookies are the best I've ever eaten. Though those Junior Leaguer's put out some mighty fine cookbooks they failed to get the name right on these little treasures. "Crack" cookies would better describe their effect. So, beware:
1 cup softened butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups sugar
6 eggs
1/2 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 tablespoon corn syrup
1 1/2 lbs peanut butter
4 teaspoons baking soda
9 cups quick cooking rolled oats
8 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
8 oz M&M's
Cream together butter and sugars. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time until well blended. Mix in vanilla and corn syrup. Gradually add peanut butter, baking soda and oats. Stir in chocolate chips and M&M's. Drop by ice cream scoop - 6 cookies to a standard-sized cookie sheet. bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Do not over bake. Makes 60
(Use real butter and don't forget the corn syrup.)
